Dan Williams, Chair of SET's Management Board: New and refreshed brand for The Society for Education and Training (SET)
Following extensive research, I am excited to share with you the new and refreshed brand for SET. After speaking to a large number of our members, it was clear that you wanted a brand identity that better portrayed and reflected the quality, values and diversity of those working across our professional community.
Alongside the new identity, a new Twitter profile @SocietyET has also been created to sit alongside the popular Facebook page. I would be delighted if you could join and promote both.
Better reflecting your career, community and profession
I am confident that, alongside the current career and professional development opportunities, access to first-class research and being part of a community of like-minded professionals—this refreshed identity will make you feel more proud to be part of SET. I am also confident that it will also help you promote SET to your colleagues and make a better case why they should also join.
The next steps
A huge thank you to those who shared their ideas and contributed to the new brand over the past year—I hope that you like it and I would really appreciate your feedback via firstname.lastname@example.org.
Over the coming months we will be encompassing a new look for the website and refreshed membership materials. We already have a new-look SET leaflet and QTLS leaflet, alongside a brand new ATS leaflet which are all available on the website.
Don’t forget to follow @SocietyET on Twitter and help us spread the word by recommending SET membership to friends and colleagues. The more we encourage others to join and get involved in our community, the more we can achieve individually and collectively.
David Russell, CEO of the Education and Training Foundation (ETF)
The SET website is a key component of our membership offer and we hope it will become your first port of call for everything related to your professional membership. With almost 20,000 members and growing rapidly, we are proud that 87 per cent of SET members would recommend membership to a friend.
As the professional body dedicated to professionals working across further education, vocational teaching and training, we have designed the website to make it easy for you to use and navigate so you can access the latest news, teaching tools, research and expert views in further education to help you take ownership of your career development.
We have a growing online and face-to-face community where you can discuss and share effective practice around current issues affecting the sector. We also offer a series of live and on-demand webinars and webchats, along with online content and the opportunity for members to contribute in the form of guest blogs and articles.
Making sure you get the professional recognition you deserve
When the Education and Training Foundation (ETF) took on the legacy of the Institute for Learning in November 2014 it was clear that to be successful we needed to build a professional membership service that was shaped by, and responsive to, its members.
As part of this process we run regular consultations with our members to ensure we can support you to be an even better teacher or trainer. It is your answers, thoughts and comments that have shaped SET, from our name and mission, to the changes we have made, and will continue to make, to develop and improve the membership service.
I am proud of the work that has been achieved so far, but it is only the beginning. We promise to continue talking and listening to you to improve our membership offer. We understand that to be the best means we need to continuously develop, innovate and grow to provide you with the professional membership service you deserve.
