Sheffield College becomes SET Corporate Partner

The Sheffield College and the Society for Education and Training (SET) have launched a new corporate partnership.

Becoming a corporate partner of SET is part of wider moves by the college to provide more professional development opportunities for staff. SET is the only professional membership body dedicated to teachers and trainers working in further education.

Announcing the partnership, Angela Foulkes, Chief Executive and Principal of The Sheffield College, said:

“We are delighted to join the Society for Education and Training as a corporate partner. Investing in our staff, and their professional development, is a top priority as we strive to provide a high quality learning experience for all of our students.”

Education and Training Foundation Chief Executive David Russell, said: “We are delighted to welcome The Sheffield College as a corporate partner of the Society for Education and Training. Corporate partnership is a positive step that signals a college’s commitment to high-quality development for its staff and teaching for its students. It provides teaching staff with access to CPD opportunities, expertise and resources, and helps them strive for excellence in their professional journey.”

As SET members, teaching staff will:

  • Have the opportunity to study for Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) and Advanced Teacher Status (ATS). SET is the only passport to achieving both QTLS and ATS. Those who attain ATS are now conferred Chartered Teacher status by the Chartered College of Teaching.
  • Gain access to resources, training and teaching tools, research and expert views in further education
  • Enjoy benefits, such as the Society for Education and Training’s online research library
  • Be part of a professional community of 20,000 teachers and trainers in the education sector, with opportunities to share expertise and experience with their peers
  • Receive copies of InTuition, the most widely read journal for practitioners working across further education, vocational teaching and training.
