Achievement for All was funded by the Department for Education (DfE) to deliver Special Educational Needs and/or Disability Implementation Reviews (SEND IRs) to 40 colleges (30 general FE colleges, seven sixth form colleges and three specialist colleges) in 2015/16.
The SEND IR process centred around the auditing of a college’s compliance to the 2014 SEND code of practice: 0-25 years (the Code). Although it was not an assessment of effective SEND practice, there was considerable overlap between compliance to the Code and good SEND practice and SEND IRs did highlight the many positive aspects of SEND practice currently within colleges.
The SEND IR focused on gathering objective data based on the statutory requirements of the Code and this webinar will give an overview of the main IR audit process and how these relate to the ten key elements of the Code: i.e.The Local Offer; Working with Local Authorities (LAs), Health and Social Care; Transition; Assessing Needs; Staff Expertise; Involving Families and Young People; Funding; Programmes of Study; Preparing for Adulthood; The Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
