Outlining research and perspectives on mental health from a practitioner's viewpoint.
Presented by Nicole Capon, MSET, Further Education teacher and member of the East Kent Local Network Group.
Nicole started working with mental health service users 18 years ago as a teacher of vocational subjects in settings, such as mental health hospitals, forensic units, supported housing projects and young offender’s institutions, as well as in mainstream further education colleges. She went on to manage a project for people with profound and complex disabilities and learning difficulties, and now teaches in a pupil referral unit and runs a training company training front line workers in mental health awareness, as well as providing teacher training qualifications.
In the latest episode from the Education and Training Foundation (ETF) podcast, Paul Tully, Strategic Researcher at the ETF, is joined by training expert, Joanne Miles, to discuss how teacher research in the form of supported experiments can strengthen professionalism and raise standards in teaching and training.
The Education and Training Foundation’s Head of Professional Status and Standards, Andrew Dowell, explains how Advanced Teacher Status (ATS) fills the gap for advanced teachers looking to demonstrate their mastery.
