Feedback sought to develop new support for ESOL Practitioners

Practitioners and others working to support English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) at pre-Entry and Entry Level 1 are being asked to contribute to the development of a new set of resources as part of a project commissioned and funded by the Education and Training Foundation (ETF).

Practitioners can contribute by taking part in focus groups and/or providing feedback on drafts. Please register your interest in taking part on our Snap Survey, before the deadline of Friday 18 January 2019.

It is hoped that this research phase will engage teachers, teaching assistants, speaking buddies and language mentors, to ensure that the new resources are relevant to different ESOL contexts, including learning in community settings and to support refugee resettlement.

Delivered by the Learning and Work Institute in partnership with Learning Unlimited, the package of support, which will be launched in Spring 2019, will include:

  • new materials to help identify and profile the needs of ESOL learners
  • effective practice guidance addressing commonly-encountered challenges when working with ESOL learners at pre-Entry and Entry Level 1
  • new teaching and learning materials for pre-Entry Level ESOL.
