Our membership levels

We have a number of different levels at which you can join us. When you register, we’ll automatically assign you a level depending on the information you give. Each level is designed to reflect the diversity of roles across the sector.

Join as a Fellow or upgrade your membership if you:

  • Hold an ETF Technical Teaching Fellowship
  • Have ATS status
  • Hold a Level 5 teaching qualification and higher degree

Join as a Member if you are an experienced practitioner and hold one of the following:

  • Level 5 diploma (Diploma in Teaching in Lifelong Learning Sector, DTLLS) or equivalent such as a PGCE, Cert. Ed, General Professional Recognition
  • Level 5 DET (Diploma in Education and Training)
  • Level 4 stage 3 FE teacher qualification

Additional benefits:

Join as an Associate if you are an experienced practitioner or assessor and hold a minimum of:

  • Level 3/4 certificate (Certificate in Teaching in Lifelong Learning Sector, CTLLS) or equivalent

  • Level 3/4 award (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector, PTLLS)

Join as a student if you are undertaking an initial teacher training education qualification and you’ll get FREE membership for the duration of your studies.

So long as you are studying for Level 3 to 5 or a PGCE from a recognised ITE provider you can apply for FREE membership.

Yes, you will receive the same excellent benefits regardless of your level of membership.

Feedback from members, alongside our ongoing goal to be more environmentally sustainable, means we no longer issue plastic membership cards. You will be sent a membership certificate when you join or renew, valid for that membership year. This can be printed or sent electronically to colleagues or employers to prove your valid membership of SET.

You may be having trouble setting up as a new member if you were previously a member or have tried to join before and are using the same email address. You can use this email address to log in to your account and renew your membership. If you’ve forgotten your password you can easily reset it.
