SET builds online community with Facebook groups

The Society for Education and Training (SET) has revamped its online community space by moving its community of practice forum across to four new Facebook Groups.

Facebook Groups

The move to relocate SET’s online forum for SET members comes following Facebook’s rollout of groups for pages in July, giving organisations another way to engage with audiences in a more controlled environment.

The four new closed groups include:

  • SET Group: A general SET community group.
  • QTLS: Advice and support for anyone undertaking QTLS.
  • SET Webchats: A place for live webchats about a range of topics.
  • SET Network Groups: Sharing good practice with local networks.

Tim Weiss, Director of Business Development, Membership and Communications at the Education and Training Foundation (ETF), said: “Our aim is to make it easier for SET members to interact with like-minded people in one location and to continue providing authentic, transparent and meaningful conversations.

"We want to help members find content and share experiences they may find useful, as well as gain a stronger insight into how we can support practitioners with their career. The community of practice forums will still exist for any groups which prefer to use them, however we feel social media provides a stronger virtual space to collaborate and discuss current issues affecting the sector."
