ATS Re-accreditation FAQs

The Society for Education and Training (SET) has introduced re-accreditation for Advanced Teacher Status (ATS) holders with the aim of maintaining a high level of professional practice amongst those who achieve the status.

Regardless of when you achieved ATS, SET members will be required attend a re-accreditation event once every three years to maintain their status, with annual events to help facilitate this.

Part of the requirements to maintain Advanced Teacher Status (ATS) is to reaccredit every three years. This is to ensure that the required standards of an Advanced Teacher continue to be met. It is also a requirement to maintain your Chartered Teacher (CTeach) status, awarded on successful completion of the ATS programme.

We will be holding an annual ATS re-accreditation event which all ATS award holders are welcome to attend (free of charge), and whilst yearly attendance is not mandatory, ATS holders must attend once every three years to maintain their status.

Unfortunately, should you not re-accredit within the required timeframe (three years), your status will become dormant, and will no longer appear on the Professional Register until you are able to re-accredit.

Your status is linked to ongoing membership. The reaccreditation events are only open to current SET members, who have achieved ATS.

You do not need to attend the annual event but you are more than welcome to do so, as it will provide you with valuable and relevant CPD, linked to your Advanced Practitioner role.

However, in order to maintain your status, you do need to attend an event at least once every three years, otherwise your status will be classed as dormant.

Re-accrediting every three years is mandatory to retain your status and the easiest way to do this is by attending our annual, online, half-day ATS event. If this is not possible, we may consider an alternative way for you to reaccredit. Details will be shared with members not able to attend who are due to reaccredit in 2025.

If you do not re-accredit once every three years, by attending the annual reaccreditation event,  your ATS status will become dormant. Your status will no longer appear on the Professional Register or the Chartered College of Teaching’s Chartered Directory, until you are able to reaccredit.

Your ATS status will become inactive. Therefore, whilst you will still be an ATS holder, your status will no longer appear on the Professional Register or Chartered Directory. You will need to be a SET member to attend future re-accreditation events.

For anyone who achieved ATS before December 2021, the re-accreditation timeline starts from 01/01/2022, so all ATS holders will have three years from this date.

No, as soon as you have achieved Advanced Teacher Status you can join the next reaccreditation event, normally held in March and online.

The reaccreditation event is an annual event, held online, usually the first Friday in March, from 9.15am to 12.30pm. Confirmation of the date and time will be published in advance and members will be notified via an invitation to attend.

Yes, you will be hearing from ETF sector experts and engaging in workshops with fellow ATS holders throughout the day.
