Advanced Teacher Status (ATS) is the tried and tested route to professionalising your workforce. ATS will demonstrate that as an employer you are committed to raising standards by employing highly skilled teachers who demonstrate mastery in teaching.

The new Ofsted Education Inspection Framework sets out the importance of professional workforce development. It clearly states the factors which characterise effective CPD programmes:  

  • Longer programmes tend to be more effective than short-term interventions, and most effective CPD has to last at least two terms to have an impact.
  • Effective CPD requires follow-up, practice and support.
  • CPD needs to be relevant to the everyday work of teachers for it to have impact.
  • CPD can allow teachers to engage in peer learning and collaboration.

Our link with the Chartered College of Teaching

ATS, introduced in 2017, is specifically designed for Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status holders operating at an advanced practitioner level. We have worked closely with the Chartered College of Teaching to strengthen the parity of professional status between those teaching and training across all educational contexts. This means those awarded Advanced Teacher Status officially hold Chartered Teacher Status (CTeach) too.
