Mental health in further education

How to use this resource

What is effective provision for adult learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities and how can it be recognised?

To answer the above question a NIACE project, funded by the Skills Funding Agency (SFA), set out to identify the factors and conditions which facilitate effective practice, and to provide examples and case studies of effective practice. It focused on:

  • the delivery of learning and skills
  • the coordination of learning and skills with other services and local agencies.

The legacy of this project is a dedicated website,, which is a one-stop shop for information and resources to support the delivery of learning to adults with mental health issues.

While funding for the research project has now ended, NIACE has committed to deliver and maintain this website for the foreseeable future.
