ATS graduates achieve Chartered Teacher status

A new cohort of Society for Education and Training (SET) members – the professional membership body of the Education and Training Foundation (ETF) – have been awarded Chartered Teacher status at a prestigious graduation ceremony after successful completion of the Advanced Teacher Status (ATS) programme. Underpinned by the 20 Professional Standards, ATS is a professional status that enables Further Education (FE) and Skills practitioners to demonstrate their advanced professionalism and mastery in FE teaching and learning.

The ceremony, held on 16 November 2024, recognised the outstanding dedication and expertise of the latest cohort of 28 teachers and trainers from the FE and Skills sector to achieve ATS. It celebrated their commitment to evidence-informed, high-quality teaching practice, as recognised by the Chartered College of Teaching's Chartered Teacher Status (CTeach). Since 2019, all ATS graduates are automatically awarded CTeach. This partnership between ETF and the Chartered College of Teaching has enabled greater alignment of professional standards and career development pathways across the education sector.

During the ceremony, graduates heard from Anjum Naz, an ATS graduate, who shared her inspiring journey in FE and on the ATS programme. Dr. Marlon Moncrieffe FCCT delivered a keynote speech highlighting the importance of diversity in education, while Prof. Dame Alison Peacock, CEO at the Chartered College of Teaching, spoke about the critical role of professional statuses in advancing excellence in education.

ETF’s Paul Smith, Head of Quality and Standards, highlighted the power of collaboration and acknowledged the efforts of the graduates: “It was a great moment to be amongst inspiring educators and I’d like to congratulate all graduates. Your commitment to continuous learning is truly commendable and will have a lasting impact on the lives of countless learners and the future of education.”
