Grants to support professional development of FE EdTech mentors and coaches available

The Education and Training Foundation (ETF) is offering 80 grants of £1,000 to Further Education providers across England to support the professional development of mentors and coaches specialising in EdTech.

Whilst FE providers are seeking to ensure a safe and widespread return to face-to-face delivery from September 2020, the Department for Education (DfE) and ETF recognise there will be an ongoing need to support the development of high quality online teaching, learning and assessment, including designing blended learning courses across the sector.

The grants are designed to support mentors/coaches to undertake:

  • Self-directed professional development
  • Additional mentoring/coaching of colleagues to enhance the quality of online/blended delivery across their organisation.

The grants are open to mentors or coaches working in FE who are currently supporting the use of EdTech with teachers and trainers across their organisation.

Each mentor/coach will receive a guide outlining 10 ideas for professional development. They will be required to complete an initial action plan detailing which activities they plan to undertake. They will then need to complete a progress review form three months later.

The application form should be completed by a manager or leader who will be able to approve and support the mentors/coaches to undertake additional mentoring/coaching and self-directed professional development.

The grants will be awarded to suitable applications on a first-come, first served basis. It is expected that all funded activities will have been undertaken and reviewed by 31 March 2021. Applications should be submitted by the end of October. A maximum of two applications will be accepted per FE provider organisation.

Further details and the application form are available on the programme page.
