SET Governance

The Society for Education and Training (SET) aims to raise the quality and professionalism of teachers and trainers across the Further Education and Training sector.

We aim to govern our society by:

  • Ensuring members are represented and have regular involvement in guiding the strategic development and operational planning of the society.
  • Ensuring members are at the heart of everything we do. Their views and opinions will play a central role in determining the future direction of the society.

SET is steered by two groups:

  1. SET Management Board (SMB)
  2. Practitioner Advisory Group (PAG)

SET Management Board (SMB)

The SMB is critical to the function of SET. It consists of SET members from the Practitioner Advisory Group (PAG) and a lay member, in-house Education and Training Foundation (ETF) staff and trustees. Each board member is appointed for a period of three years.

The SMB meets three times a year, aligning with the meetings of the ETF and PAG.
