Share the benefits of professional membership with colleagues or let us know who they are and we’ll do the rest.

The more members we have, the more we can provide services that you value. Through a large membership of individual teachers and trainers, collectively, we can continue to make a difference. But in order to achieve this, teachers and trainers need to know what we offer and about the benefits of membership.

How you can help

Here are a few tips to help you when speaking to non-members to highlight how being a member of their professional body can be of value to them in their career:

  • Membership of the Society for Education and Training (SET) enhances your status as a teacher or trainer and provides ongoing recognition that you remain in good professional standing.
  • Professional body membership is a demonstration of an individual's commitment to their career and professional development, which is recognised by employers.
  • SET offers a range of benefits and services to support them in their professional practice. A full list of benefits can be found here.
  • SET is the only organisation that confers the professional status of Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).

You can also encourage colleagues to visit our website to find out more and join online.

How to recommend a new SET member

Refer a SET member by emailing us including your name, membership number, the name of the person you a recommending and their email address. We will then be in contact to invite them to consider SET membership. Please ensure that the person named knows that you have recommended them for membership.

Please be assured that the information that you provide will only be used to contact individuals about SET membership and will not be passed to any third party.

All data gathered and held by SET is managed in accordance with SET's privacy policy.
