Advanced Teacher Status (ATS) is the badge of advanced professionalism and mastery in further education and training.
The programme was launched by the Education and Training Foundation (ETF) in 2017, and is underpinned by the 20 Professional Standards. It is conferred through the Society for Education and Training (SET). The to ensure holders of ATS will automatically be conferred ETF has worked in partnership with the Chartered College of Teaching Chartered Teacher Status. This cements the parity of professional status between those teaching and training across all educational contexts.
The Professional Status register lists SET members who have successfully completed professional formation and achieved Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status or Advanced Teacher Status (ATS). In an update to the eligibility criteria in 2020, if you have not previously been awarded QTLS or QTS and you have held your ITE qualification a minimum of five years, you can now apply for ATS.
